Using Ftp
The easiest way to use ftp to upload you site is to use the
builtin ftp client found in Windows. First open your web
page files by browsing to them in windows. Select them all
and right click. Then left click copy.
Nest click on the start button on the lower left side of your
Windows Desktop. Then click on Run. In the run
dialog box type in explorer.exe and then click Ok.
Windows Explorer should appear. When it does, enter the
following in the address bar:
ftp://domainname.xxx where domainname is the domain
that you registered for your site. (ie. cconsultants.com)
then press enter.
You will be prompted for a userid and password. Enter
the ones that we provided for you when you registered with us
and click Log On.
Then double click on the httpdocs folder. This is the
root of your website. When that folder opens, right click
in the area on the right side of the window and select past.
This will copy the files you selected previously to the httpdocs
folder.
When it is down copying, your website should be published.
If the default page still comes up, you did not name the default
page correcly. It needs to be either index.htm or
index.html. If you did name it index.htm or index.html
check to see if the default index.html file is still in the
directory. If it is, delete it by right clicking on it and
selecting delete.
If you still have problems, create a help desk ticket by
logging into the Plesk interface and selecting help desk from
the left column. |
